One of the most famous crypto-currency hardware wallet producers, Ledger has announced it will now be supporting the Tezos Wallet application, according to an official statement released.

It’s worth noting that previously, the Tezos Wallet application was only available in developer mode but will now also be available for crypto-users worldwide. The head of Ledger, Eric Larchevêque, noted “we are thrilled to welcome Tezos to the Ledger platform. It is exciting to see active community members and external developers adding Ledger support, and we look forward to seeing continued engagement coming from the community,” in a statement released to the press on the 23rd of January. Now the Tezos Wallet app can be installed on Ledger Nano S through Ledger Live. The Tezos application, developed by Obsidian Systems, provides features for participating in Tezos that highlight the capabilities of the Ledger Nano S hardware wallet. The application supports delegation of tokens to others for participation in Tezos’ Liquid Proof of Stake consensus mechanism.

Who are Tezos?

Tezos is often called the world’s first self-evolving blockchain and is a new platform for smart contracts and decentralized applications which was originally founded in 2014 by Arthur and Kathleen Breitman. The system works on a smart-contracts basis and its main aim is to circumvent common bugs and forks – such as was the case with Bitcoin – with the use of its unique software and tools that allow its algorithm to automatically update. In addition, the platform is generally considered highly secured by crypto-lovers and is controlled by online voting that is implemented through Proof of Stake protocol. Tezos, has three layers: a network, transactions, and consensus. All components are modular in order to make their replacement easier.
